چکیده

Measuring electron-beam sizes is very important to estimate horizontal and vertical emittances in lowemittance rings. The beam size monitor using Fresnel zone plates (FZPs) has been designed for the Super-SOR ring (a new name of the VSX ring), which is a thirdgeneration synchrotron light source being planned by the University of Tokyo. The monitor system has a structure of a long-distance x-ray microscope using two FZPs and has an advantage of direct and real-time monitoring of the electron beam profile. The synchrotron radiation from the electron beam at a bending magnet is monochromatized by a double-crystal monochromator and the electron beam profile is magnified and imaged on an x-ray CCD camera by two FZPs. The spatial resolution is estimated to be about 1 μm for the photon energy of 5 keV and it is sufficiently high to measure the horizontal and vertical beam sizes, 14 μm and 3.6 μm at minimum, respectively. The design of the new beam profile monitor using Fresnel zone plates is presented in this paper.

Electron Beam Lithography of Fresnel Zone Plates Using A Rectilinear Machine And Trilayer Resists

We describe the use of a commercial e-beam lithography system (JEOL JBX-6000FS) to fabricate Fresnel zone plates for x-ray microscopy. The machine is capable of controlling the pitch of optical gratings with sub-nanometer precision, so its beam placement properties are more than adequate for zone plate fabrication. The zone plate pattern is written into a thin top layer (PMMA or Calixarene) of ...

Multiple beam splitter using volumetric multiplexed Fresnel zone plates fabricated by ultrafast laser-writing.

A simple approach to producing a 1×N beam splitter is demonstrated by fabricating a volumetric multiplex phase Fresnel zone plate in bulk transparent material. This comprised four layers of zone plates created in borosilicate glass by femtosecond laser direct-writing, each shifted laterally relative to the illumination axis, creating four separate beamlets. Since the power transmitted in each b...

High efficiency and low absorption Fresnel compound zone plates for hard X-ray focusing

Circular and linear zone plates have been fabricated on the surface of silicon crystals for the energy of 8 keV by electron beam lithography and deep ion plasma etching methods. Various variants of compound zone plates with first, second, third diffraction orders have been made. The zone relief height is about 10 mkm, the outermost zone width of the zone plate is 0.4 mkm. The experimental testi...

Design and fabrication of Fresnel zone plates with large numbers of zones

The advent of high-brightness x-ray sources in the 10–40 keV region opens new possibilities of experiments with microbeams. Techniques to form these focused beams may be based on glancing mirrors, phase elements, or diffractive optics, in particular Fresnel zone plates ~FZPs!. Because of the long focal length and large acceptance, FZPs designed to work in the hard x-ray region tend to have quit...

Beam propagation modeling of modified volume Fresnel zone plates fabricated by femtosecond laser direct writing.

Light diffraction by volume Fresnel zone plates (VFZPs) is simulated by the Hankel transform beam propagation method (Hankel BPM). The method utilizes circularly symmetric geometry and small step propagation to calculate the diffracted wave fields by VFZP layers. It is shown that fast and accurate diffraction results can be obtained with the Hankel BPM. The results show an excellent agreement w...
